Dr. Lisa Michaels

Lisa Michaels is a chiropractic physician and the owner of 5th Street Chiropractic and Health Center.   Dr. Michaels is originally from Michigan and chose chiropractic as a second career. She was first introduced to chiropractic at the age of 12 after an auto accident. Although, Dr. Michaels visited chiropractors sporadically throughout her life, she wouldn’t decide to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic until much later. In 2003, Dr. Michaels had an allergic reaction that caused seizure like symptoms and “short circuited” something in her brain. This caused weird symptoms to begin which initially manifested as involuntary tremors. After roughly five years of treatment within the allopathic community, with little relief and new “weird symptoms” she returned to a chiropractor in Ann Arbor, MI who specializes in Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET).  NAET provided her relief that others couldn’t…the tremors and now stuttering and involuntary muscle movements were now manageable. It took a few more years, but Dr. Michaels decided to leave social services after ten years and become a chiropractor.

Dr. Michaels holds a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology, with a minor in Psychology from Saginaw Valley State University (Michigan); and a Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, IA.  Dr. Michaels was chosen as a nominee for the Clinical Excellence Award and served as a Clinical Teaching Assistant in her final trimester at Palmer. Her drive for excellence allowed her to extend her education and is certified in multiple low force techniques including Activator and Sacral Occipital Technique. She is also certified in Tonus Receptor Technique (soft tissue technique) and Webster’s Technique. Dr. Michaels is currently completing classes for her Basic Acupuncture Certification and advanced NAET certification.

Dr. Lisa Michaels has a long history of leadership and community involvement.  Her unique experience has allowed her to offer patients’ alternative services to help gain and maintain their quality of life.
